The new cover for October Moon.
|
O'Brien Press/Children's Books Ireland Design-A-Cover Competition
We are delighted, in association with Children's Books Ireland, to announce the winners of the
2010 Design-A-Cover competition, part of the hugely-successful Children's Book Festival.
A brand new edition of Michael Scott's werewolf classic October Moon will be published in spring 2011 and
we asked Ireland's young artists to create a brand new cover.
A huge number of entries, and a very high standard, made the job of selecting a winner both enjoyable and challenging -- but now we’re delighted to announce the results! |

The original book cover. |

In first place is Adina McNulty from Ballina, Co Mayo. Her strong and deceptively simple graphic approach to the book made this a favourite from the start. Congratulations to Adina!
From the finished cover at the top of the page you can see that our designer, Emma Byrne, has done some additional work on the design,
ensuring that the spirit and menace of Adina's work shines through.

In second place is Thomas Caffrey from Duleek, Co Meath, whose scary werewolf appears on the back cover of the new edition. |

And the four runners-up whose designs will be used on the inside covers are Sophie Gallagher from Kilpedder, Co Wicklow; Aoife Harty from Nenagh, Co Tipperary;
Neale McKenna from Scotstown, Co Monaghan and Niamh Buttle from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.
Thanks again to everybody who took part, and to CBI for all their work.
This great new edition of October Moon will be available from bookshops in March 2011.
